The Environmental Protection Agency has formed a new Decision Making committee to re-hear an application by Trans-Tasman Resources Limited which was first made in 2016.
Fans of TTR may remember the old Decision Making Committee being embarrassed by several court cases saying that they’d got it wrong but they’ve managed to get the Supreme Court to direct the case back to the EPA for another go.
TTR has confirmed that it wants the EPA to reconsider the application and, in 2022, the EPA received directions on procedural matters from the High Court, including the composition of a new DMC.
The DMC has asked TTR to provide any additional evidence, reports, or updating material in relation to their application by 19 May 2023.

Prohibiting skateboards and scooters on footpaths in Raglan and other Waikato town centres are just some of the tools for Police in new bylaws proposed by council - who are also at better looking ways to deal with boy racers.
The bylaw intends to deal with activities on or near roads including signage and trading as well as the devilish wheeled recreational vehicles. In addition, horses riding on footpaths in urban areas will be prohibited and vehicles over 3.5 tonne will have limited access to town between 9am and 4pm.
Submissions close at Waikato District Council on 27th March
A much reduced Maui Dolphin day has been announced for 25th of March at the Old School on Stewart St. Since Covid the Whaingaroa Environment Centre has been forced to review whether the day has been achieving what they wanted it to achieve - which was to raise awareness of the plight of the dolphin.
Luckily Peggy Oki has stepped in for 2023 and organised an event promising games, prizes, food, and music at the Old School on the 25th - and the Environment Centre said there will “most likely” be Maui Dolphin Days in the future.
As well as the Creative Market the Old School art Centre is continuing it’s Pop-up Bookshop this weekend. The 3 week long event featuring local authors is open from 10am till 2pm every day but during the weekend authors Wanda Barker and Colin Chung will be in residence for anyone who wants to meet them, discuss their book or get a signing.
