The works on SH23 Raglan, near Four Brothers Reserve and Ohautira Road that were scheduled for completion tonight have been rescheduled. After one night's work on Sunday night the crew’s have been sent elsewhere and will return next week.
The works near Four Brothers Reserve on the top of the Divvy will restart overnight from Sunday 16 March and are expected to take 2 nights to complete.
The works near Ohautira Road start overnight from Tuesday 18 March and are expected to take 3 nights to complete, meaning the project will be an extra 2 nights overall.
Although the press release doesn’t say it, the previous plans were to have the highway closed from 9pm till 5am each night with traffic escorted through at 9:45pm, 11pm, 1am and 3am
The public consultation for the 2025–2034 District Council Long Term Plan is being pushed out due to issues identified during the auditing process. As a result, consultation will now take place from 11 April to 11 May 2025.
According to our Councillor Lisa Thomson the Long Term Plan wasn’t passed at this week’s Council meeting because there have been some changes. Council plans to reconvene on Monday next week to get it over the line.
Staff are planning to engage with communities during the consultation period by attending local events, such as markets and sports days,
Waikato Regional Council has granted the Karioi Project $393,000 over four years for its work to eradicate pests and predators from the Maunga. It’s part of a total of $1.34 million from its Natural Heritage Fund (NHF) towards four landscape scale environmental projects that also include location on the northern Coromandel Peninsula, Mt Pirongia and the Kaimai-Mamaku Ranges.
The Regional Council increased its per property natural heritage rate from $5.80 per annum to $15 as part of last year’s Long Term Plan.
