The Wahine Moe is back on the water after a few months off over winter. Locals will have seen the Wahine Moe out of the water getting repairs down at the Wharf. The first sailing is scheduled for 4:30 on Saturday afternoon with more the following day and because it’s winter Raglan Boat Charters says they’ll have plenty of blankets on board the vessel.

Te Uku School is doing a fundraiser for a new playground. The old one is 25 years old and in need of a replacement. The Old School Arts Centre has announced the first Raglan Ukulele Festival (this century at least) for Saturday September 9th. With a growth of Ukulele super groups in Whaingaroa including the Ragtimers and the Blister Sisters a festival seems like the next logical step. As well performances from those local groups there will be workshops through the morning, open mic and group session in the afternoon and the main concert in the evening which will feature Sonia & Nigel and the legendary Big Muffin Serious Band.

The proposed Waikato Coastal Plan is out for submission at the moment. There was a flurry of excitement on social media a few months back as coastal landowners discussed the possibility council was taking over some of their land with new Regulations. Now with the document out on the Waikato Regional Council website everyone can make a submission - and have until mid November to do so.  This will be the first time it has been updated for 30 years

In local sport the Raglan Roosters Football team have been knocked out of the Scottish Cup, the Waikato Sunday League knockout competition,  in their match against POTFC on Sunday. With the scoreline even at full time the game went into extra time, which for a team that doesn’t do fitness training was quite a challenge. POTFC got the goal they wanted and Raglan missed a penalty opportunity near the end so couldn’t take the match into a penalty shoot out. POTFC will go on to play Marist in the final.
