The Raglan Chronicle has been awarded Runner-up for the Best Front Page Magazine Award at the  NZ Community Newspaper Conference and Awards in Auckland and were very pleased to receive an award for Runner Up - Best Front Page Magazine.

The photo was taken by Geraldine Burns who shoots the Local Rag magazine covers - and lots more for the Chronicle - and almost always features local identity in the cover photos.

Next year’s festival will be held on the weekend of 17th -19th January and will no doubt feature the highly successful bus convoys from Hamilton and Auckland that took the pressure off the long waiting times experienced in previous years.

In sport the Whaingaroa Whai Wahine had a great game start to their season on Sunday. Traveling to Te Awamutu for their first match, they came away with a 26 - 4 victory over the Ngaruawahia Panthers. Players of the day were Lana Hawkings, Nicole Forbes and Karewa Hawkings

Meantime the Whaingaroa Whai Men had another big win 40 - 4 against the Hamilton Hornets on Saturday, Their staunch defense and skillful back play was on display in front of a large home crowd who got to see them at home for the first time in a month.

The result moves them up to third place on the league table after 8 games.

Players of the day were  Waikato Forbes, Potiki Tupaea and Timoti Aitken-Read

The Raglan Roosters Football team completed a clean sweep for Raglan sport on the weekend beating Marist FC by 6 goals to 1 on Sunday at Papahua. The result puts them within one point of the Division One top spot after the top team Deeziples had a draw over the weekend.  It was a close match for much of the game until the flood gates opened in the last 20 minutes and the Roosters went on a goal scoring spree  with David, Marti and Felipe amongst the goals.
