Raglan News Bulletin: Te Mata to Celebrate Hall Refurbishment, Local Election Update, Raglan Refill Moves to Main Street

The Te Mata Community has announced a Raise The Roof event to celebrate the completion of their Community Hall Refurbishment.

After winning a free paint job from The Hits and Resene the locals decided to do the job properly and raised additional funds to refurbish the outside of the building and replace the roof before community members then poured hours of volunteer labour into the job.

Organisers are promising a night of Live music with Bill Forest and Band, good food and  great company on November 8th

Just in time for summer, Raglan Refill is shifting to a new home at the former Trade Aid store on Bow Street. The shift will be happening the week before Labour Weekend with the bigger space allowing them to stock more of the affordable, eco-friendly products that locals have been asking for. Previously tucked away in the Raglan Club carpark, the move to the main street will put the shop firmly on the map for both local and visiting shoppers.

Raglan Refill is a non-profit organisation with a combination of paid and volunteer staff that offers unpackaged pantry basics and cleaning products, all designed to make low-waste living easy.

In local body election news: As expected the Raglan voter return count is starting to increase in comparison to other wards in the district as we get toward the end of the voting period. With 29.2% of votes already counted we’re second only to the Tamahere Woodlands Ward which has 29.9% while the overall count for the district is 26.3%. Predictions are that there will be relatively high vote return compared to the last couple of elections but don’t forget to to hand deliver your voting papers to the council office from this point on as there won’t be time to get them delivered through the post before the election closes tomorrow, Saturday 11th at midday.

Local waka ama business Tai Paddles Aotearoa has moved into a new space at 2 John Street, marking a milestone for a long-running Raglan-based company. Established in 2004, the business specialises in building waka ama canoes and paddle and has become a trusted name among paddlers across Aotearoa.

The store is open Friday 1–4pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am–3pm, or by appointment.

Growers Market Kicks Off Fifth Season.
