Waikato District Council is continuing its investigation into last month’s high test results for faecal indicator bacteria in the inlet near the museum. Following a question at this week’s community board meeting, the Watercare have said they’re taking additional test samples from 7 different locations over a three day period including Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The results are expected late next week and hopefully it will provide some clarification about what is happening in the waterway.
The Regional Council is also doing weekly testing around the harbour all through summer which will provide additional data.
Also from the Community Board meeting; there were problems with the park at Whale Bay, we still don’t have confirmation that the council will continue the promised funding of the internal bus service in the long term plan and Greenslade residents should keep an eye out as you’re about to be consulted about the playground at your new park.
The community board also heard that Soundsplash now has 4000 festival goers busing directly to the venue from Hamilton and Auckland.
This means we’ll see more buses coming through Raglan over the weekend but a lot less cars as half of the festival audience will be taken directly to the site and won’t be using the park-and-ride service from the airfield.
Sondsplash will be held on 19-21st January this summer and the headline acts include Coterie, Delta Heavy, K Motionz, Mallrat and Tiki Taane along with 29 other announced acts plus many more – including local lad made good, Muroki.
In the most recent announcement DJ Ruth Royal, who has performed all round the world including at Glastonbury is the latest addition to the lineup.
Council has also passed it’s new freedom camping bylaw with several updates for Raglan Stewart Street: The decision has been made to keep this as a prohibited area. It was proposed to be a restricted area.
Wainui Reserve Bush Park: Extending the proposed prohibited area up to and including the roadside.
Papahua Domain: Extending the prohibited area at Papahua Domain to include the carpark outside the campground.
Aroaro Bay Reserve, John Street: Added a new phttps://portal.firecrestsystems.com/Web/EditArticle.aspx#Designrohibited area.
Hello Sailor is in town tonight at the Harbourview Hotel, Graham Brazier and former Raglan resident Dave McArtney are no longer with us but Harry Lyon, when interviewed on this station said people were still demanding they play and it looks like tickets have indeed sold out for tonight’s gig. https://raglanradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/IMG_9133.jpg
