Musical Journeys

Musical Journeys – Raglan Community Radio

Latest Episode

Show Overview

Rodrigo Hill from Brazil and Xavier Meade from Mexico take turn-about on Sunday nights to broaden our musical horizon playing African derived rhythms from West Africa, Cuba, and Brazil. They also journey to Mexico, the rest of Latino America and beyond.

Rodrigo started the show after being inspired by Xavier’s original show Viva la Musica which played on Raglan Community Radio in the early 2000s. Musical Journeys was also inspired by another Raglan show called Across 110th Street which itself was inspired by Viva la Musica.

Musical Journeys is a fusion of these original Radio shows and at the same time a continuation, a way to share and pay respect to various cultural and musical movements from across the globe.

Across 110th St is back on Raglan Community Radio, streaming in from NYC, and Xavier has completed the circle, joining the Musical Journeys show in 2021.

Tune in every Sunday from 6 – 7:30pm and replaying Wednesdays 3 – 4:30pm.
