The next Board meeting is Wed 15 June at 1.30pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum will be part of the formal meeting, giving the usual opportunity to discuss issues. You might prefer to email the Community Board members:- Chris RaynerDennis AmooreGabrielle ParsonKiri BinnersleyLisa ThomsonSatnam Bains and Tony Oosten.

Wednesday's  agenda continues to lack information, which I’ve highlighted in but includes -

  1. CCTV Andrew Murphy, Senior Constable to talk about it.

  2. Wi Neera Walkway “can identify a working group, we will make contact with them at the appropriate time to discuss the wider area. . . Design has been received from Tonkin & Taylor and provided to Community Connections Manager Megan May for review.

  3. Coastal reserves “Meeting scheduled with Caleb, Open Spaces Team Leader, to discuss our roles and the organising of our first annual stakeholder meeting.

  4. Wharf Structural Repairs, Pontoons and Walkways “The tender received is now being assessed by the Tender Evaluation Team. . . Resource consent application have been submitted to WRC ad WDC. The time frame of these is more uncertain and will depend on whether WRC decide it’s a notifiable project.” 

  5. Whaingaroa Harbour study “90 submissions online, 30 submissions at the public forum and 60 from key stakeholders. . . draft report will be available for public comments this month.”

  6. Manu Bay Breakwater – meeting on 30 May. “agreed to separate the issues . . . Ramp Maintenance and Breakwater Options. The Open Spaces Team Leader Caleb Ahu will hold an initial meeting of interested parties to manage . . . ramp repairs, surface jetting/cleaning, rock removal processes, signage, and erosion management. . . For the Breakwater Options, Community Projects Project Manager Trevor Ranga will write a scope to engage coastal engineering experts to provide peer reviewed options for Breakwater . . . The resulting Options Report will be provided to the forum members for review, and any forum-shortlisted options considered for further investigation and design

  7. Orca crossing RCB to organise a meeting.

  8. Footpath/cycleway Rockit-Poihakena - construction underway. Greenslade Footpath - community planting day to be arranged for July.

  9. Parking Upper Bow Street angle parking planned for August. Signs still awaiting installation date from Downers. Rose St “Have no resources to undertake this work at present.” Parking barriers outside Super Value $350/ each + installation costs.

  10. Local bus report to 20 June Infrastructure Committee. If approved, service starts October. 

  11. Cycle counts no survey has been undertaken”. Who wants to help with a survey?

  12. Bayview/Government Rd will consider additional signs to advise on concealed junction.

  13. Greenslade Rd junction safety “maintenance team keep the grass on the inside of the curve cut to provide visibility, apart from that no further measures have been undertaken”.

  14. Civil Defence Cr Thomson to provide an update

  15. Raglan Naturally Youth Week and Matariki event organised.

  16. Soundsplash airfield and Wainui Reserve booked 18-25 Jan.

  17. Horses on beaches WDC didn't follow the right procedure to ban them.

  18. Community Board Charter “role is to express the community’s views on local issues to the Council . . . act as an advocate for, the interests of its community”.

  19. RCB Transforming Recycling Consultation submission.

  20. Discretionary fund has $11,297.58. Mental Health Toolbox want $1,500 for a booklet. RCB to consider alternative uses of money for cancelled Maui Dolphin Day.

Service Request report should have been on the last agenda. It was copied to WED, but is still not published.

Waters Governance Board 7/6/2022

The final effluent pond . . . has been washed down to minimise the solids carried over to the receiving waters

WSL is undertaking sediment and shellfish testing in Raglan Harbour – Sampling completed – awaiting a report from Tonkin+Taylor.

The Raglan Waste Water model - has been finalised with WDC population data and system performance analysis completed. We are awaiting updated data from Nero Pumping Station before progressing option development.

Reserve Management Plan consultation

Closes Fri 17 June. You might want to comment on policy 6.1 allowing aircraft on reserves, or 9.1 on toxic sprays.

Actions -

World Rally closure of Waimaori, Matawha, Tuturimu, Ruapuke, Whaanga, Ruakiwi, Mangiti, Te Akau South and Te Akau Coast Rds in September. Oppose, or support on WDC's page and fill in Friends of Whaanga Rd survey.

Local elections are coming – find out about enrolment, standing for election, etc. Taurikura wananga on Sunday 19 June 10.30am, Papahua House, Holiday Park to engage community with elections.

Submit feedback on WRC's freshwater planning and WDC's alcohol policy.

Other issues missing from the agenda are airfield, Representation Review maps, Canada Geese, Papahua estuary planting, Cliff St, Park Dr/Long St crossing, town square, Town Hall Committee, coastal erosion, unsealed roading, Climate Response Plan, Energy Project, WRAP, Town Hall Warrant of Fitness, Calvert Rd parking, Te Uku & Te Mata Recycling, Whāingaroa Catchment Management Plan, dog issues, Hills Rd water tower, volunteer worker safety, Puriri Park, Joyce Petchell and Puriri Park toilets to be wrapped with environment messaging, Manu Bay planting, Eco Village. Should WED be taking up these or other issues?
