Public meeting about WRC Rally

Tonight in the Raglan Town Hall - the Sporting Director of Rally NZ is hosting a presentation on their desire to hold a round of the World Rally Championship around Raglan and the Whaanga Coast in September this year

This is an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to ask any questions of the rally organisers with the meeting starting at 7pm

Andrew Little visits Raglan

After being delayed by Covid, Treaty Negotiations Minister - Andrew Little finally visited Whaingaroa over the weekend.  He was escorted by Ngaati Maahanga and was here to talk about the history, occupation, confiscation and (in some cases) return of whenua to the tribe. 

 

Local hapu have expressed a strong desire to represent themselves in treaty negotiations as opposed to being represented by Waikato Tainui. Although their team was also present,  the minister’s visit is a positive sign. 

 

Food Waste Consultation Result

 

Waikato District Council is giving a big thanks to the 657 people from the Raglan community who took part in the Food Waste Collection Consultation. The Council says there was 55% supporting the collection with an annual targeted rate of $72.90, and 45% opposing the proposal.

Council officials say that now the submissions will be analysed and used as part of Council’s decision making process. The decision on the additional rate is due in June

Local Sport

And in local sports news the Raglan Rugby team started things off with a bang on Saturday in a high scoring match beating Jaradites 50 - 29 at the local rugby ground plenty of the team got amongst the tries but according to those at the game Jordan Ratima was the stand out player.
