Raglan News Bulletin Friday 29th April 2022

 

The Raglan Community Board will be meeting next Wednesday and for the first time in a long time they’ll be able to meet in person at the town hall with the open forum starting at 1:30pm.

Opposition and support for the World Rally event were in evidence at a community meeting held this wednesday evening in the town hall. 

The World Rally Championship is planning to hold a rally in September around Raglan and the Whaanga coast.  A group of residents on the coast have long complained about the disruption caused by the event and they were present at the meeting. People interested in the economic gain from the event were also there showing their support. WRC has to make a decision soon so that they can apply for consent to do road closures.

Raglan Community Radio has announced that during NZ Music Month they will be putting together the ultimate Raglan Music Selection! They’ll be asking listeners to vote for their favorite Raglan Tracks with the selection to be announced at the end of the month. Stay tuned for more details.

Whaingaroa’s annual Pumpkin Festival is on again this Sunday at the Bowling Club at 9:30am Put on by Crop Swap they’re asking people to bring along their biggest, most unusual and scariest pumpkins as well as your best pumpkin baking.  They will also be running their normal crop swap where the community is invited to bring along seedlings, plants, produce, preserves and baking to share and swap.

In local sport the Raglan Rugby team is having their second game at home this weekend It’ll be against Kereone at 2:45 at the rugby grounds on Cross st. The Raglan Roosters football team has their first game on Sunday at Kahikatea Park in Hamilton but we don’t know who they will be playing because in true Sunday League style they haven’t yet publicised the draw.
