Raglan Community Board Meeting – Wednesday 10 September 2025

The next meeting of the Raglan Community Board will be held on Wednesday 10 September at 1.30pm in the Supper Room, Raglan Town Hall.

Members of the public are welcome to attend. A public forum will take place near the start of the meeting, providing an opportunity for community input. Alternatively, residents can contact the Board by phone or email.

The agenda is relatively short at 22 pages, with several items to be delivered verbally, including:

  • Open Spaces Operational Update

  • Sportsfield Provision Study

  • Board Members’ Reports

  • Councillors’ Report

However, the written agenda does include the following topics:

Wainui Reserve 30-Year Plan

Council has engaged CKL Limited to draft a long-term development plan for Wainui Reserve. This project was discussed during a recent Infrastructure Committee meeting. You can view the full discussion at 2:17:00 in this video.

Town Plan and Spatial Planning

A meeting with planning consultant James Fuller was held last week to discuss next steps. An update will be presented at the meeting.

Tourism

Board members recently met with Raglan iHub. A verbal update is expected at the meeting following the iHub’s public session on 9 September.

Stormwater

Following community feedback at the July Liaison Group meeting, several outstanding stormwater-related actions are being worked through. These include questions around CCTV inspections, legacy consent groups, flooding hotspots, and wetland restoration references.

A detailed summary of technical questions and responses has been shared with the group and will be discussed further in upcoming months.

Sewage Infrastructure

Final testing and integration of the pond system were scheduled to be completed in August. Although not formally on the RCB agenda, note that the next community video meeting about the sewage outfall will take place Thursday 11 September at 6.30pm.

Water Leaks and Monitoring

More than 150 FIDO acoustic loggers have been deployed across Raglan to detect water leaks. Preliminary findings are being followed up with further investigations and repairs.

Street Lighting

Contractors are continuing to work through a backlog of 60 lighting requests across the district. There are now just over 20 remaining. Lighting gaps around the changing sheds, bridge, and Papahua walkway have been flagged to Council.

Civil Defence

Another civil defence planning session is scheduled for mid-September, with a workshop/practice activation expected in October. Gareth Ballamey attended the recent Raglan Naturally resilience workshop to promote the group.

CCTV

Work is ongoing with NZ Police to ensure compatibility between the proposed software system and Council requirements. The installation tender remains active and will be reviewed once system details are confirmed.

Greenslade Road Reserve Playground

Delays in sourcing a replacement flying fox due to international supply chain issues have pushed completion back to November.

Raglan Recreation Study

A comprehensive study has been circulated outlining current recreation facilities and future needs. The Board has invited Matt Allen to present on next steps. At 2:38:00 in the Council meeting video, a question was raised regarding the potential removal of the Puriri Street playground.

Campground Infrastructure

The defects liability period for recent stormwater and pump station works at the campground is set to expire in December.

Discretionary Fund

An updated Discretionary Fund report will be tabled at the meeting as an additional attachment.
