Raglan News Bulletin Friday 31st March 2023

The Boat Ramp at the wharf  will be closed today from 1.30pm as the council delivers the wide gangway to the wharf and lifts it into place.

Over the past few weeks all the prep work has happened with tonnes of volcanic basalt paddock boulders installed to construct a sea wall, asphalt poured for the eastern walkway and kayak ramp, five piles installed into the water for the new pontoon before a crane delivered the pontoon into position this week..

(listen to the bulletin below:) Raglan Arts Weekend (RAW) registrations are opening on Monday 3 April for the big arts trail event to be held on Labour weekend when summer comes back.

Due to the growth in popularity they’ve increased registration capacity and there will be room for more artists than previous years. 2023  will also see the launch of an ‘Emerging Artists Exhibition’ at the town hall, with about 15 up and coming artists on display. This exhibition will be managed by Caleb Osborne, an emerging artist himself and also a DJ here at Raglan Community Radio.

On top of that, there will be a ‘Artist-Connect’ bus, a RAW artist-only tour of some of the studio highlights just ahead of the weekend itself, and a ticketed opening cocktail event to kickstart the whole shebang.

Waikato District Council is proposing to close Ruapuke Road for the  Hamilton Car Club to hold a tarmac rally on Sunday 18 June 2022.

The temporary closure would be between the intersection with Te Mata Road and Waimaunga Road from 8.30am to 4pm and there will still be access in emergencies with radio equipped marshalls on site.

Any one wanting object to or support the proposal should lodge their feedback by email or in writing to Waikato District Council And there is still time to complete the census.

According to the government, taking part in the Census will help them understand what resources are needed for our community. If people are not reflected in the data, then decisions are made without them.

If you do not have what you need to take part, you do not need to wait for us. You can get an access code sent to you by SMS text message. If you have any questions, please call us on 0800 CENSUS (0800 236 787) or visit https://www.census.govt.nz/ Waikato District Council has a new  account-based online system that is designed to mean less admin work for staff, and to make things easier for customers .

Your user account will be a one stop shop for rates accounts, water accounts, dog registration details and more via a single email address.

And that is the Raglan News for Friday 31st March 2023 – don’t forget daylight saving time is ending this Sunday too. https://raglanradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/construction-of-the-sea-wall.tmb-lg.png
